The activities and services of Letni dům are not aimed only at children aged 6 – 26 years growing up in children´s homes in the Czech Republic, but they are targeted at all young people who have grown up in institutional care. Some of these clients are adults now but at times still need help or support.
Our projects span a number of areas. The goal of our services provided to children and young people from children´s homes is the strengthening of their psychosocial abilities and practical skills which will enable them, after leaving institutional care, to experience a more fluent transition to their independent lives.
Additionally, we support families facing difficult current situations with the intention of stabilising the lives of all the family members and supporting a safe, understanding and caring environment for the children. The objective of the services for families is to help with solving practical problems (e.g. dealing with debts, looking for a job, helping with the child´s schooling etc.). It also includes the development of deeper parenting skills, improving family communication and the mental state of the child within the family.
We also offer assistance, support and training for the foster parents who are entrusted with looking after disadvantaged children and substituting the family care.
